This past weekend Lori and I traveled to Greeley to visit our youngest Jamie and to attend two concerts at the Greeley Stampede. This was my first time to attend the Stampede, I can say that I will be back. The arena is first class with stadium style seating and covered bleachers. As we waited for Cody Johnson to come on we were delayed by about an hour and a half because of lightning and rain. One of the new phenomenon’s is the “standing pit”. You pay extra to stand up close to the stage. I guess I’m to old to get that. I have to admit the folks in the standing pit where dedicated fans. After a 30 minute lightning delay here comes the rain. One of those old fashioned gulley washers. It came down in buckets. As everyone was heading for high and dry ground the folks in the standing pit didn’t even budge. Rain was rolling off the stage cover like a river and the folks just waited it out in the rain. I’d like to say that they at least had the bar to keep ’em company. But the bartenders where smart enough to run for the hills. Lori and I had the luxury of being under the cover and just sat and marveled at the pre-show of people watching. I honestly can say I don’t know who I would stand in the rain for. Would you?
