WOW! Visiting St. Jude Children’s Research changed my life. And that is an understatement. It’s one thing to hear these stories of children going through something that no human should ever have to endure, but it’s a whole different story when you see these children – No hair, tubes up their nose, throats, or arms, getting pulled in little red wagons, and somehow still mustering up the strength to smile at us healthy strangers. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is an incredible place, fighting incredibly horrible diseases.
I had the privilege to hug and meet Dallas, a St. Jude survivor! He is alive and thriving today, thanks to YOU! Thanks to complete strangers who decided to become a Partner in Hope for just $19 a month. $19 doesn’t get you a lot nowadays, but when we all come together to do our part, it adds up and literally saves lives! How cool is that?!? Because of Partners in Hope and St. Jude Childcare’s Research Hospital, Dallas can now live out his dream of becoming a meteorologist and pastor!
Here’s a quick video below to give you a glimpse of Dallas! After 2 minutes, I think you will love him as much as I do!
If you aren’t a Partner in Hope, please consider it! Your simple gift of $19 a month (Or whatever you would like to donate) will save lives. Here’s a few facts to consider
- St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. They share all their findings, for free, to other hospitals and doctors.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80%! Which is amazing! But that still leaves us with the unsettling truth that about 1 in 5 kids won’t make it. St. Jude won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.
- Families at St. Jude don’t pay for anything. Flights to the hospital, food, the treatments, activities… All Free. All free so they can focus on their children and not have the financial burden over their heads.
Just one more quick example of what makes St Jude Children’s Hospital Special: Below are a few images from a teenager art gallery they have in the hospital. St. Jude works hard to make it not feel like a hospital, and part of that is providing fun activities for the kids. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, a part of them is forced to grow up and face this terrible disease, but St. Jude does a wonderful job in providing a variety of activities for the kids, so they can still be kids. The art gallery is just on example of these activities.
One more quick Dallas video! It’s not every day that Randy Owen invites you to sing with him! (It’s a little hard to hear this part during the video, but Dallas admits he doesn’t know the Alabama song and that is why Randy Owen stops the music and has Dallas sing the song of his choice.)
