Planning a trip with kids? Here’s a few ways to keep them entertained for the long drive or flight!
Road Trip Bingo – My Personal favorite! Make a bingo board, and fill it with stuff like Red Corvette, Windmill, Speed Limit Sign, Cow, etc. They sell Road Trip Bingo cards, but when you make your own board, you can tailor a few of the things based on where you’re driving through.
I Spy – I think we’ve all played this at least once in our life. My friend played with her kid and said I spy something grey. The kid’s response? “Your Hair?”
License Plate Game – Try to find a license plate from every state! A team game, everyone is playing together to try and reach the goal. It helps to write down each state that you see, so you don’t forget after a while. 🙂
Would you Rather – Come up with a bunch of ‘Would You Rather’s’ that are tailored for your family. Write down all the ones you come up with, but also allow the kids to come of with their own also. It creates fun conversation and works for planes too!
Alphabet Game – So many different games within this.
-Go through the alphabet and list food’s, places, etc from A-Z
-Name a (Food) alphabet game. The next person has to name a food, that starts with the last letter of that food. I.E. First person says Apple… Next person would say Egg…. Next person Grape… Endless possibilities, because once you run out of food, start over with actors, movies, TV shows, verbs, etc.

Motorcycles –Â Instead of slug bug we play motorcycles. Anytime we see a motorcycle you must yell motorcycle and the person with the most motorcycles wins. We taught our kids this so when they start driving they will watch out for not just cars but motorcycles too.
Crafts with Pipe Cleaners – Â Pipe cleaners are cheap and you can get them in a lot of different colors. Kid’s can make lots of fun stuff, over and over again, with the pipe cleaners. My grandkids loved making glasses with them.
Wake Hello –Â When traveling with my kids, we would take turns waving and passing cars. The first one that got 10 waves got a treat.
Stickers and Colorado Books – Load the kids up with coloring books, pencils, stickers, and crayons!
Mad Libs – Great way to be creative, pass time, and make you laugh.
Ball or Frisbee – We like to play a little when we stop for food or gas. This helps with the restlessness and sometimes gets them to sleep a little longer in the car.
